Legacy Restaurant and Grille (Sweetbriar Golf Club)

18 July, 2012 | Fine Dining | By: Mrs Z

We got off to a late start this night (dinner at 9pm isn’t the norm for us), but once we finally arrived at our destination, it was SO worth the trip, even at that late hour!  Everything from the moment we entered was just perfect!  We had a choice of sitting in the main dining room (very formal), but since it was empty at that hour and we were told that the menu was the same for both areas, we opted to sit in the less formal grille area where there were still quite a few golfers leftover from earlier.  Our server, who was also our hostess, was absolutely wonderful.  Friendly, knowledgable (with many suggestions) and very attentive.  The menu was huge, ranging from salads and sandwiches, to many entrees with quite a few excellent-sounding Chefs’ specials, one of them being plum brandy veal medallions.  We ordered the Salmon Napolean (grilled salmon, layered with portabello mushroom, tomato and spinach over angel hair pasta with a lobster cream sauce – yum) and the crab-stuffed tilapia with risotto, served with a light lemon-butter sauce.  Both were excellent!  All entrees are served with a choice of 4 different dinner salads (House, Garden, Caesar and Greek).  We had the House and the Garden which were very good and just the right size.  Though it was much to hot for us to eat outside this night, they do have a beautiful outdoor patio with bar overlooking the golf course.  By the time we waddled out of there, we vowed that we must return (on a cooler night) and take advantage of the great view outside.  This place is most definitely deserving of two thumbs up!!!
