AJ’s Urban Grill

19 December, 2013 | Bistro, sandwiches / soups / salads, Traditional / American | By: Mrs Z

What a cool little place this was and very surprising that it wasn’t brand new since we had never been there before.  We’ve been over in this area many times and never noticed it, but the fact that it’s set back in a little non-descript strip center might be the reason for that.  In any case, a good find for sure.  The atmosphere was really cozy and very comfortable (and spotless!!).  Our server (though I don’t remember her name) was wonderful.  Personable but not overly chatty and was always there to make sure we were doing okay or if we needed anything else.  Their menu was so diverse that it didn’t really fall into any particular category – they had a little of everything.  Though their appetizer, salad and sandwich offerings were extensive, they had quite a few really interesting-sounding entrees as well.  Sorry to say that this was just a soup and sandwich night for both of us, but if they were indications of how good the rest of their food was, then they definitely deserve 2 thumbs up.  I had their tomato bisque which was possibly the best I’ve ever had.  I also ordered the “AJs Signature Chicken” grinder (they also offer this with steak instead of chicken).  Though it sounds very boring, it was excellent.  Served hot, the sub roll was good and done just right.  The chicken was very tender and juicy and there was plenty of it.  I’d have this again without question.  Mr. Z had their chicken noodle soup, which he said was a little on the salty side, but not overly so, and the tuna melt.  Both he said were very good.  The prices were really reasonable too.  We are definitely looking forward to going back to try some of the other things on their menu!
