Sapori Italian Grille

19 June, 2014 | Italian | By: Mrs Z

Formerly Aroma, this quaint place is tucked back in the corner of a relatively obscure strip center right on Lake Road and if you’re not aware of it, or not from the area, you night not notice it, but since we absolutely and totally loved it; we are hoping to get the word out there! […]

Parker’s Grille and Tavern

16 September, 2013 | Bistro | By: Mrs Z

You know how they say, “the third time is a charm” – well that’s certainly the case with Parker’s Grille and Tavern in Avon Lake!  We had gone there once when it was Swingo’s Grand Tavern and again, when it was Bar Symon and were not impressed enough with either to ever return for a […]

Mark Pi’s China Gate

23 May, 2013 | Chinese | By: Mrs Z

This neat little Chinese restaurant was pretty much hiding in a very unassuming strip center, so unless you lived in the area and knew it was there, you probably would never notice it.  Thankfully it was recommended to us by our son, who had been there only once and said we just ‘had to try […]

Taki’s Greek Kitchen

24 April, 2013 | Greek | By: Mrs Z

We didn’t think there were any restaurants left in Avon Lake that we hadn’t been to, but this place was recommended to us by a friend and what a great find it was!  Taki’s is a relatively small and cozy little place, with a definite Greek flair.  It was surprising to see so many occupied tables on […]

Legacy Restaurant and Grille (Sweetbriar Golf Club)

18 July, 2012 | Fine Dining | By: Mrs Z

We got off to a late start this night (dinner at 9pm isn’t the norm for us), but once we finally arrived at our destination, it was SO worth the trip, even at that late hour!  Everything from the moment we entered was just perfect!  We had a choice of sitting in the main dining […]

Strip

30 August, 2011 | Fine Dining, Steak / Seafood | By: Mr Z

Located where the old Henry’s Barn was, this was outstanding in every area – décor, service and food.  Excellent steaks and sides.  The server(s) were absolutely terrific.  Somewhat pricey, but worth every penny.

Jake’s on the Lake

7 June, 2011 | Traditional / American | By: Mr Z

We ended up there by default (original choice didn’t SERVE FOOD except weekends) – turned out to be a great find though – very fresh perch and great pirogies.  Will definitely go back here!

Mulligan’s

28 September, 2010 | Sports Bar | By: Mrs Z

Great bar – wonderful patio and good service. Very similar menu to Mulligan’s in Strongsville.  Yummy “Irish Egg Rolls” (shredded corned beef, sauerkraut and swiss cheese rolled up in an egg roll wrapper and fried – served with thousand island dressing for dipping – mmmmm)!

Henry’s at the Barn

16 September, 2008 | Fine Dining, Steak / Seafood, Traditional / American | By: Mr Z

A VERY cool place with an awesome menu – very different and unusual.  A bit on the pricey side ($30 fried chicken – but excellent).  It was warm and friendly, with outstanding service. UPDATE:  Henry’s at the Barn is closed and in that location now is STRIP (see post)

Aroma

14 August, 2007 | Italian | By: Mr Z

They had JUST opened when we were there and we were greeted by the chef/owner who decided to fix us what HE wanted us to try, so we have no idea what’s actually on the menu.  It was very good, but as compared to other Italian restaurants we’ve been to, this one fell a little […]
