Condado

18 November, 2018 | Bar and Grill, Bistro, Mexican, Sports Bar | By: Mrs Z

Condado is amazing!!!  Though we’ve been to Barrio (Lakewood location), and similar as they are, somehow our experience at Condado just totally exceeded our expectations.  This was no small accomplishment on their part since they had only opened this location 3 days before our visit and EVERYTHING was running just as smoothly as though they’d […]

Slyman’s Tavern

19 September, 2017 | Bar and Grill | By: Mrs Z

Any of you familiar with Slyman’s legendary corned beef sandwiches will be thrilled to know that you don’t have to travel deep into downtown Cleveland to get one of these monsters……Slyman’s now has locations in Beachwood and Independence that offer more than just sandwiches!  Make no mistake, you can still get these mouthwatering sandwiches (along […]

The Pub – Beachwood

3 December, 2015 | Pub | By: Mrs Z

Though I’m not absolutely sure, I think The Pub has taken the space in Beachwood Place that was formerly occupied by McCormick & Schmick (sorry to see them go).  However, The Pub is a wonderful addition to the area.  The décor looks very much like (an upscale) authentic English Pub and the menu has many […]

Valenti’s Ristorante

3 December, 2012 | Italian | By: Mrs Z

While this was not the type of place we were expecting; it was good nonetheless.  Their ad conjures up ideas of an old-world, family-type Italian restaurant; however, while it was lovely inside, we found it to be very modern and more ‘art-deco’ than old-world Italian.  Since our visit was on a Tuesday night, no reservations […]

DeGaetano’s

25 April, 2012 | Italian | By: Mrs Z

A very non-descript little family-owned (and run) Italian place.  Completely empty, even for a weeknight and except for a few takeout orders, not sure how they survive.  The service (one young girl) was okay, but the food was as non-descript as the restaurant was.  Very bland sauce and WAY overcooked eggplant.  Would have no reason […]

Porter’s Steak and Seafood

21 February, 2012 | Fine Dining, Steak / Seafood | By: Mrs Z

This was his “birthday dinner”, so I had such high hopes!  The menu and the service were exceptional; however the food left a little to be desired given the prices.  I would never recommend “lobster chunks” since they are truly the part of the lobster that nobody wants to eat (very odd texture and fishy tasting) […]

B Spot

14 June, 2011 | Bistro | By: Mrs Z

Decided to “pass” on the place that had been our original choice.  It was in a questionable location and we didn’t feel as though the experience would have had a positive outcome. As for B Spot – it’s a typical Michael Symon restaurant.  The burgers and shakes were really good, but in all honesty, we both […]

Hiroshi’s Pub

31 May, 2011 | Bistro | By: Mrs Z

Interesting little bistro-like place located in an office park with a very diversified menu including many BBQ selections, sushi, Italian, etc. and ALL good. Very reasonable prices and the server (Christina) was outstanding!!!

Melange

21 April, 2009 | Bistro | By: Mrs Z

A typical bistro / loungey kind of place. Food was good, as was the service, but there was nothing remarkable about any of it.  Nothing on the menu that would make you say “wow, I have to go back for that….”.

Moxie

18 December, 2007 | Fine Dining, Italian, Steak / Seafood | By: Mr Z

Absolutely outstanding!  The servers / staff were amazing!  You’d have thought we were there for a celebratory dinner, rather than just a night out during the week.  Very friendly and fun.  The meny was phenomenal and our dishes were wonderful.  A little on the pricey side, but would go back in a heartbeat!
