Bistro on 130

26 January, 2019 | Italian | By: Mrs Z

Tucked into a sad, mostly empty strip center at the corner of W. 130th and Sprague (the space formerly occupied by #1 Pho), Bistro on 130 may very well be the best thing that has happened to that area in……well – EVER!  Absolutely amazing – in fact, it was so good that we are really anxious to go back to try one of their other signature dishes – so many choices it was hard to pick.  Our server Mellise was wonderful; offering some suggestions and overall very knowledgeable about the menu and the preparations.  The warm homemade bread was delicious, as were the salad dressings (best Italian / Bleu Cheese combination I’ve ever had; even though the Bleu Cheese wasn’t very “bleu cheesy” tasting – a little on the sweet side – but together they were great).

I had the eggplant lasagna, which was seriously so good I forced myself to eat the entire huge portion (though I could have easily stopped halfway through).  It was served with a choice of one of their pastas or the house risotto.  Since I’m not a huge pasta lover, I chose the risotto, which was good, but a little TOO thick and creamy for my liking.  I decided to have just one forkful of Mr. Z’s homemade angel hair pasta and WOW…..as pasta goes, it was DELICIOUS!  I had a hard time stopping at just one taste.  Mr. Z ordered the veal parmesan and said it was perfect.  Two very large, thin filets that were so tender, they melted in his mouth.

In real estate they often use the phrase “location, location, location……”, well the only reason that Bistro on 130 wouldn’t be hugely successful would be due to it’s location.  We are hoping that never happens!
