Bourbon Street Barrel Room
Honestly, this place comes about as close to actually being in New Orleans as you could find outside the French Quarter. The décor throughout the restaurant mimics many places along Bourbon Street and their menu is truly amazing and absolutely huge. Additionally, our server Rox, was just the best! She was really attentive, answered every question we had, and made some really good suggestions.
Since we arrived before Happy Hour ended, I decided to step a little outside of my comfort zone and try some of their various beers. For a mere $5, you can get your choice of 4, 4oz. samplings of any of their many craft beers and while I can’t remember the names of the ones I tried (2 stouts and 2 amber ales), they were all so good, I’d order any of them again in full size!
We started with the Hush Puppy appetizer, which was perfect (REAL hush puppies with nothing unnecessary tossed in). They came with a really yummy dipping sauce that was rich and a little sweet and VERY good. For our entrees, Mr. Z had the NOLA BBQ Shrimp and Grits which was quite a bit different that either of us had tasted in the past, but really good. It had an abundance of perfectly done shrimp and adding the cheese made it that much better. I had the SW Louisiana Cajun Jambalaya with the added shrimp creole sauce. It was delicious but definitely too much for one person (and perhaps even two).
We LOVED Bourbon Street Barrel Room and will absolutely be going back there!!
