Austin’s Smokin Steakhouse

19 January, 2010 | Sports Bar, Traditional / American | By: Mrs Z

This was a typical steak, ribs, BBQ joint. The ribs were pretty good (not the BEST we’ve ever had, but good), but the brisket was excellent.  Essential to any place with ribs and chicken is the BBQ sauce and their’s was average to good.

Rocky River Brewing Co.

As long as this place has been around, I really was expecting more.  There were some really neat-sounding things on the menu, but none really lived up to their descriptions.  Hot items were brought out cold and the cold ones were sort of room temperature.  That was disappointing since it was pretty empty at that […]

Rooster’s Bar & Grill

Outstanding wings and good sandwiches, but honestly, the service was so horrible  that if we hadn’t been so hungry, we would have walked out. Such a shame since they really were some of the biggest, meatiest wings I’ve ever had! Udate:  Decided to give it one more try a month or so later – mid afternoon on a Sunday (no notable sports […]

This place actually had a Bocci court in in the back!  However, a very limited menu. The food was just okay, so doubtful that we’d go back. We were told that this was one of Jimmy Dimora’s favorite hangouts (no sign of him this night though).

Shula’s 2 Sports Bar

An “upscale” sports bar.  There was absolutely nothing that would make us want to return.  The service was average and somewhat unfriendly.  The food was typical “hotel” food (it’s attached to the Sheraton) and somewhat overpriced.  Definitely not a candidate for a repeat!

Maxx Doogan’s

Sort of ended up here by accident, but it was a good choice.  Really nice menu selections (along the lines of bar food, but better).  We were pleased with what he had and the service was really good.

Loco Leprechaun

A very unique Irish bar menu.  The service was somewhat slow and the food was ‘ok’ – not outstanding, but okay.  The Irish nachos were pretty good (corned beef, sauerkraut and melted swiss on tortilla chips – with of course, Thousand Island dressing to dip)!

Jackalopes

The best thing about this sports bar was the great view of the lake.  The service was average and the food was no better than you’d find in any neighborhood sports bar!

A really neat little Irish sports bar!  Everything we had was very good (Irish eggrolls – yum).  Good service and a cool atmosphere.

Located in the old Cooker location right on Bagley Road, they have totally remodeled the interior (unrecognizable).  We got off to a bad start, but after the initial issues and a chat with the manager, we ended up with a couple of pretty good burgers!!  They do have a more extensive menu than that, but for […]
