Hudson’s

15 June, 2012 | Bistro, Traditional / American | By: Mrs Z

What an excellent choice….. neat decor, outstanding service and delicious food.  I had a shrimp and lobster flatbread with many kinds of cheese (comfort food at it’s best).  He had a wonderful chicken sandwich (grilled on homemade bread) which was so good, we decided to share.  Can’t wait to go back!

Melrose Grill

Formerly Mapleside – After hearing that the old Mapleside Restaurant had finally reopened under a new name, we thought we’d try again.  Having only been once before in all these years, (previously we found it pleasant enough – food and service were both good, but décor needed help).  On a Tuesday night, we figured we’d […]

Stonehouse Grille

It’s always a little amazing to pass someplace dozens of times, yet never even think about stopping.  This was one of those places and we were very glad we finally gave it a try. Tuesday nights are “Pizza Nights” and the place was packed. Service was outstanding (in spite of the crowd) and our server […]

Minerva’s

27 September, 2011 | Traditional / American | By: Mr Z

An somewhat tired-looking, family restaurant with something for everyone on the menu. A bit old and musty inside, but overall it was ok. You could see by the other patrons in there at that time, that it catered to a regular “older” crowd.

Jake’s on the Lake

7 June, 2011 | Traditional / American | By: Mr Z

We ended up there by default (original choice didn’t SERVE FOOD except weekends) – turned out to be a great find though – very fresh perch and great pirogies.  Will definitely go back here!

The Coach House

25 January, 2011 | Traditional / American | By: Mr Z

A very cool little place, resembling exactly what it’s name implies – a coach house!  We weren’t expecting much, so we were pleasantly surprised that both the food and the service were good.  A varied menu with reasonable prices.

Michael’s Family Restaurant

Another one of those places we tried only because we had a coupon.  It was very old and dingy inside (didn’t expect that in Rocky River).  The food was “ok”, but not at all enjoyable since everything looked (and felt) very dirty.  The salad bar (which they highly promote) looked like it had things on it that had […]

Mapleside Restaurant

Can’t believe in all these years, we haven’t ever been before – much better than expected and décor is almost like some of the state park lodges. NOTE:  See Melrose Grill for update

The Courtyard

13 July, 2010 | Traditional / American | By: Mr Z

An excellent little place tucked back in a strip center. They have a huge menu, with everything being homemade and absolutely delicious.  The place was filled to capacity on a Tuesday night, with a 30 minute wait.  A great indication of just how good it is.

Vintage House Cafe

Well, maybe some of their dishes are edible or even good – if you like everything coated with salt, but my grouper was just plain BAD; the soup was so salty it couldn’t be eaten and really, they just didn’t seem to be all that concerned.  Can’t think of ANY reason that we’d ever go […]
