Frankie’s Italian Cuisine
Even though this place has been around for as long as we’ve lived in Northeast Ohio; we had never been here before. I think we just kind of stumbled across it and decided to finally give it a try. We were completely shocked to see how packed it was on a Tuesday night and from what we could tell, it’s very much a ‘neighborhood’ kind of place. Everyone seemed to know everyone else and the staff.
As I’ve said before, there are an over-abundance of Italian restaurants to choose from – some not worthy of return and others have been quite good. But as a result, we have become a little more picky about our Italian food and always end up comparing it to our own particular favorite (to date, all have failed to measure up). Frankie’s however, was pretty good. The menu selections were pretty much the traditional Southern Italian favorites that everyone is familiar with and the prices were reasonable, but as I said…something about it – whether it was the sauce, or the freshness-factor or whatever – just seemed to fall a little short. I had their Lasagna and Mr. Z had the Chicken Parmesan (you can’t get much more traditional than those 2 choices). Both were pretty good – just not ‘to die for’. That’s not to say that it isn’t a really good place, certainly evidenced by the crowd on a Tuesday, but it just didn’t come close to OUR favorite. The question…would we go back again??? The answer….no need!
