Map of Thailand

6 February, 2015 | Asian | By: Mrs Z

As has happened on several other occasions; Map of Thailand was not our original destination on this particular Tuesday night.  I had neglected to call ahead to confirm that the restaurant of choice was still in business and what their hours were.  In the past, we’ve run across outdated websites only to find that our destination was no longer in business.  THAT’S a real eye-opener.  In any case, I neglected to check, so when we finally arrived we saw that it was locked up tight with no sign of activity.  Being in a neighborhood (Asia Town) we were unfamiliar with and not having selected a backup (or two – which Mr. Z has started doing), we were at a loss.  Driving around, we happened across a little strip center in the area and decided to check out the 2 restaurants located there.  One looked very small and appeared to be take-out only.  At the other end of the center was Map of Thailand!  We looked through the window and though there were no other patrons in there, we did see several employees so we knew they were obviously still in business and open on this Tuesday.  THIS was a real adventure!!!

Everything was great!  The menu was large and had some very authentic-sounding Thai dishes and our server was so warm and friendly.  My choices were the coconut soup and the Pad Thai.  Neither of those were a disappointment.  The soup was delicious with just a slight ‘kick’ to it and the Pad Thai was excellent.  Mr. Z was a little less adventurous; choosing the sweet and sour chicken and unlike you would get in a Chinese restaurant; the chicken was sautéed rather than being breaded.  He said it was very good.

Chances are you won’t just happen across Map of Thailand, but I can assure you that it’s worth the trip!
