O’Charley’s

25 August, 2016 | Traditional / American | By: Mrs Z

Having been to an O’Charley’s once while in another state a few years ago, we were quite excited to find out that one was opening in our neighborhood.  Little did we know that the typical wait-time for the first 3 months, regardless of what day of the week we tried, was going to be 60-90 minutes.  We do NOT wait that long for anything; however on this particular Tuesday we arrived at 5:15 pm in hopes that we wouldn’t have to wait any longer than 30 minutes (we were trying to be just a little flexible).  Thankfully, we were in luck – 25 minutes and we were seated.  Our server was great, as was the manager, Lisa; however, our meals were less than we were expecting.  Our recollection from our past experience was that the food was outstanding and the price point was right on target.  That wasn’t the case this time.  Mr. Z had the shrimp dinner, which clearly was frozen breaded shrimp (emphasis on the breaded…..more breading than shrimp) and I had the crab cake dinner; also unexciting – somewhat tasteless and just not that good.  Both meals arrived lukewarm.  We didn’t want to make a fuss, so we ate what we could and when our server asked if anything was wrong, we just casually mentioned it and within a few minutes, Lisa the manager arrived at our table.  We didn’t make a big deal, but she was terrific – giving us a coupon for a free appetizer next time we were there.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience and once the novelty of the ‘new restaurant in the neighborhood’ wears off, we’ll try again – but definitely order different items.
