Venezia

OMG – this place was HORRIBLE.  I’m not sure which was worse, the service or the food (once we finally got it).  They had the air-conditioning on so low that you could almost see frost forming (not so great where hot food is involved – who wants a cold meal).  Honestly, we waited over an hour […]

Melt Bar and Grill

24 June, 2008 | Bar, Bistro, sandwiches / soups / salads | By: Mrs Z

OMG what an awesome place.  Cheese, cheese and more cheese – combined with everything under the sun.  Unless you are very hungry or are planning to share – this is not the place to go.  The sandwiches were outrageously huge, but SO good!

Sullivan’s Irish Pub

15 April, 2008 | Irish | By: Mrs Z

A good neighborhood Irish pub.  While we didn’t find it to be as good as The Harp, they did have a few menu items that were interesting.  Unfortunately, our visit took place on a very cold night and the place was freezing.  That didn’t lend itself to a ‘relaxing’ meal, but it was good nevertheless.

Player’s on Madison

We really enjoyed this place.  Everything was really good – both the food and service.  The menu has a large variety of really interesting-sounding dishes, along with some more typical items.  The atmosphere was really neat and they’ve got a cool little patio in the front (not appropriate for this weather though).  Would highly recommend it.

Three Birds

Unbelievable!!  Outstanding service and amazing food.  Cool atmosphere with really knowledgeable servers and an extensive menu.  Everything we had was great!  Really can’t wait to go back.

Swingo’s

One of our greatest disappointments!  We can’t figure out how this place has survived as long as it has.  The entire visit was negative.  The service was horrible, with all servers having really bad attitudes.  The food was far from exceptional, as we’ve always been led to believe.  Such a disappointing experience, given our high expectations and considering our […]

West End Tavern

13 February, 2007 | Bar | By: Mrs Z

A typical neighborhood corner bar, with a typical bar menu (strictly sandwiches and burgers).  We’ve been to some pretty cool ‘neighborhood bars’ but this wasn’t one of them.  Sort of dirty feeling inside with that stale-cigarette smell from years of buildup.  Would not go back, nor would we have any reason to recommend!
