The Red Lantern Kitchen & Bar
I don’t even know where to begin when talking about the great experience we had at The Red Lantern Kitchen and Bar! Perhaps I should first mention that when I noticed exactly WHERE it was located, I was apprehensive…..an old strip center that’s anchored by Marc’s and Giant Eagle – not very encouraging. But, while it wasn’t much to look at on the outside (or really inside for that matter); this was a true gem! They had recently undergone a renovation inside and though not screaming “atmosphere”, it looked new and very clean (big points there).
The menu was awesome! It had the typical bar-fare, but everything seemed to have a slight ‘twist’ to it and in a good way! When I mention a house salad, wings and fries it probably won’t sound too different than any corner bar, but seriously…..the salad was phenomenal, as were the wings and the Rosemary Fries! It’s hard to explain, but unlike your typical house salad; every ingredient in the salad was top notch and the house-made dressing was the perfect complement. The wings were huge, meaty and delicious (I had the hot garlic sauce); but perhaps the most surprising was the Rosemary Fries – OMG….. amazing! They came with two different dipping sauces, both of which were delicious!
Mr. Z had the ribs which he said were perfect and rather than just throwing a half slab of ribs on a plate, they separated each one and stacked them tic-tac-toe style – a very clever preparation (and a lot less messy)!
We absolutely LOVED The Red Lantern and can’t wait to go back.
