Not being very familiar with this particular part of the outlying Cleveland area (though the address is technically Cleveland, it’s actually located in Euclid); we weren’t quite sure what to expect.  Many outstanding reviews had been written on this quaint little place, but again – when all we knew about that area is what is visible from I-90, which is mostly old, very industrial and NOT terribly inviting, our expectations weren’t too high.  Wow were we surprised!  Though it didn’t look too much like the picture that was depicted on their website, we chalked that up to the fact that our visit took place in the dead of winter and it was pitch dark outside.  Nothing ever looks the same under those conditions, but from the outside it did seem like your typical old neighborhood corner bar.  Inside was warm and cozy and nicely furnished.

The menu was really diverse with quite a few really interesting-sounding appetizers and salads, which made choosing an entrée even more difficult.  I almost opted to skip the entrée and go for a couple of the appetizers and a salad, but in the end I chose a double bone-in pork chop which truly was enough for a family of 4 – absolutely huge; but very tender and moist.  It was topped with a thick sauce that was made up of apples and ‘something else’ and was accompanied by whipped sweet potatoes and fried brussel sprouts.  It was delicious, but very rich and way too much for one person!  Mr. Z had the Canadian salmon which was also done to perfection and very tasty.  Sadly, neither of us had room for dessert after we finished our meals (half of mine came home with us), but we have vowed to go lighter on the entrees next time and save room for one of their house-made special desserts.

Last but certainly NOT the least important part of our adventure was our wonderful server, Barbara!  She was exceptionally warm and welcoming and VERY knowledgeable about everything on the menu, so was a big help in our decision-making process.  We were grateful that we listened to her since she definitely didn’t steer us wrong!

We are looking forward to going back…..in the Spring!
