Bistro 83 Restaurant and Wine Bar

24 July, 2014 | Bistro | By: Mrs Z

What an incredibly awesome find this was for us!  We’re still amazed that we’ve driven by it on almost a weekly basis for as long as it’s been here, and never even thought to check it out.  I think that the fact that it had “Wine Bar” in the name may have been a minor deterent.  Sometimes one associates “wine bars” with an abundant selection of wines and only ‘small plates’ in terms of food.  This was absolutely NOT the case with Bistro 83!  Though there was an incredible selection of wines to choose from; the dining choices could not have been more diverse.

From the minute we walked through the front door of this chic little place, until we said our goodbyes; everything was absolute perfection!  Our server, Vienna, was just amazing; with both a great personality and a very broad knowledge of each item on the menu and it’s preparation, along with several suggestions which were very much appreciated.  She couldn’t have been more spot-on with her recommendations.  After much debate, Mr. Z settled on the braised pork shank, which is somewhat out of character for him, but when I saw the look on his face after his first bite; I knew he’d made a great choice.  I got a little sample and it was just fabulous – fall off the bone and melt in your mouth and just delicious.  I was leaning towards that same thing, but wanted to order something different that he did, so Vienna asked me if I liked scallops and while I do; I wasn’t really in the mood.  She said they were one of their signature dishes and one of her favorites and once she explained the preparation, I knew that was going to be my choice and honestly, I’ve had scallops in some of the finest restaurants throughout the country, but none have even held a candle to these.

Everything was just outstanding from beginning to end and we can’t wait to go back!
