Blue Jade Chinese Restaurant

8 November, 2016 | Chinese | By: Mrs Z

We were shocked when we found out how long Blue Jade has been in this location—20 years!  We’ve probably driven right by it a hundred times and never even noticed it.  The owner mentioned that may be due to poor signage, but regardless, we were thrilled to find an alternative to our ‘usual’ neighborhood Chinese restaurant.

Not knowing what to expect, we were happy to see a very clean and well-lit space with the traditional décor that many other Chinese restaurants use.  Their menu was quite extensive and VERY reasonably priced; however the portions weren’t as big as most other places.  We are prone to share an entrée; which, together with soup and an eggroll, is generally more than enough and that (fortunately) was the case here (but barely).  We each had the wonton soup, eggroll and shared the Bourbon Chicken.  The soup was very similar to what we’re used to, as was the eggroll and the Bourbon Chicken was very tasty.  Since they don’t have a liquor license, they allow patrons to bring their own (which we did).  The only problem we encountered was that our server spoke NO ENGLISH at all, which meant that we couldn’t ask her any questions about the menu items.  This was a minor problem, but one to be aware of.

We would definitely go back to Blue Jade in the future.
