3 Point

12 June, 2012 | Fine Dining, Italian | By: Mrs Z

Akron never fails to amaze with it’s wide variety of really interesting restaurants, and this was definitely a “find”.  Located right across the street from the Akron Museum of Art, one would never have guessed that behind an unassuming storefront, was this neat little art-deco type place.  Much larger inside than it appeared from the […]

Porter’s Steak and Seafood

21 February, 2012 | Fine Dining, Steak / Seafood | By: Mrs Z

This was his “birthday dinner”, so I had such high hopes!  The menu and the service were exceptional; however the food left a little to be desired given the prices.  I would never recommend “lobster chunks” since they are truly the part of the lobster that nobody wants to eat (very odd texture and fishy tasting) […]

Strip

30 August, 2011 | Fine Dining, Steak / Seafood | By: Mr Z

Located where the old Henry’s Barn was, this was outstanding in every area – décor, service and food.  Excellent steaks and sides.  The server(s) were absolutely terrific.  Somewhat pricey, but worth every penny.

Palates

10 May, 2011 | Fine Dining, Steak / Seafood | By: Mr Z

Located in the former Le Volte Grille spot and just as nothing about LVG ever excited us, neither did Palates. Very stuffy, uninviting atmosphere, server had a bizarre attitude (like she thought she was in a 5 star restaurant in Manhattan) – seriously overpriced, however…food was absolutely excellent. We wouldn’t return though, simply because of […]

Bistro on Lincoln Park

5 October, 2010 | Bistro, Fine Dining | By: Mr Z

This was formerly Sage Bistro (our very first “adventure”).  As with Sage, both the food and the service were excellent.  The menu is not extensive, but there is at least something for anyone’s taste.  Our server was just outstanding!

Vento’s

17 August, 2010 | Fine Dining, Italian | By: Mrs Z

OMG – totally overpriced, the food was terrible; the service was OK (barely) but a very limited menu and it certainly wasn’t “Italian” as they claimed to be. We could have made a mortgage payment for what it cost for the 2 of us.  Such a shame since it’s in a beautiful setting and could be […]

Bruno’s

4 May, 2010 | Fine Dining, Italian | By: Mr Z

MAGNIFICENT!!  I can’t say enough good things about Bruno’s.  A very cool little authentic Italian place which was jam-packed on a Tuesday night.  We were initially a little nervous since nothing about the neighborhood, nor the outside hint at what’s waiting when you get inside, but SO glad we overlooked that.  The food was beyond […]

Quince

9 March, 2010 | Fine Dining, Steak / Seafood | By: Mr Z

Co-owner and chef formerly of Velosity in Lakewood and Vue in Hudson. Interesting menu and very good food, but just a little too over-the-top (descriptions of the food prep way too extensive and hard to follow for the average guest). Great service on a Tuesday but would be interested to see if things were the same […]

D’Agnese’s

23 February, 2010 | Fine Dining, Italian | By: Mr Z

AWESOME Italian food. Really good service, but the food was great. On the pricey side, but SO worth it.

Corkscrew Saloon

27 October, 2009 | Fine Dining, Steak / Seafood | By: Mrs Z

The word “Saloon” is very deceptive in this case.  We were expecting something along the lines of an old-fashioned western bar, but what we found was a really neat place, warmly appointed with great food, and an awesome patio.  Beware, it’s somewhat pricey.
