Mastro’s 3 Spot

26 August, 2015 | Sports Bar | By: Mrs Z

The way that we wound up at this place is so ridiculous, I’m not sure I even want to share it, but it does make for a good story, so here goes……..it was “my Tuesday night” and events of the day had prevented me from doing my research, thus at the end of the work-day, I didn’t have anything at all in mind – and no energy to start looking, so I deferred to Mr. Z’s offer to take the lead this week.  After about 30 minutes, he said he had come up with “something” and off we went.  When he put the address in his GPS, the address couldn’t be found so he decided to call (maybe should have done that on the front end) and low and behold…..NO LONGER IN BUSINESS!!!  Well, that left us in the car with no destination.  I then remembered a very old list that I had in my purse, so I pulled it out.  Of the 5 places on that list, we had already checked off 4 of them, which meant that the one remaining place must not have been very appealing to begin with, but left with no alternative (and the fact that it was close), I entered the address in the GPS and off we went (again, taking a huge chance that IT would still be around).

Well it was, and it weren’t for all the cars in the lot, you’d never have guessed it was still in operation.  It didn’t look too big from outside, which might explain why we’ve driven by it hundreds of times and never even noticed it.  In any case, it was SO crowded that we had to park in the lot of the business next door.  When we walked in the front door we were really surprised.  Not only was it really big, but business was booming (later discovered that was because it was “35 cent wing night”, but still….).  We were told to take any seat and we were waited on almost immediately (points there, given that it was so crowded).  0ur server Todd (I think) was awesome – really attentive but not overbearing and had a good sense of humor.  The menu was that of a typical sports bar, but the focus this night was definitely on the wings, of which they had many choices.  I had the garlic parmesan which were good (not as good as some, but better than others; however for $2.10 for 6 wings….who’s complaining).  I also had the deep-fried zucchini which was pretty good (although I think it had been previously frozen and not made fresh).  Mr. Z had a sandwich (the name of which escapes me) but it was ham, chicken, salami and swiss cheese, served hot on a sub roll.  He said it too, was pretty good.

Overall, our last minute efforts paid off and we discovered a neat little place close to home the next time we’re in the mood for burgers or wings!
