ML Tavern

30 September, 2015 | Fine Dining | By: Mrs Z

In all the years that we’ve been in the area and all the time we’ve spent searching for new and exciting places to eat, I can’t believe that we had never heard of this place.  THIS was a true find!  It’s sort of off the beaten path (at least to us), but a very warm, cozy environment (sort of a “hunt club” theme).  Don’t let the word “Tavern” mislead you though.  This is not “Tavern” in the sports pub sense….this is fine dining, white tablecloth sort of Tavern, and the $$ spoke to that for sure.  The good news is that it delivered big time, so you don’t mind paying a little more.  The menu isn’t huge and is broken down into “Tavern” and “Entrees”.  Just a heads-up – everything is a la carte, so if you decide to order the Chilean Sea Bass (which Mr. Z did), then that’s exactly what you get – a beautiful piece of ($37) sea bass with no accompaniments.  I had a taste and it was delicious!  He did order a side of the sea salt fries and if you’re thinking…..plain old fries, think again!  They were really yummy!

The soup of the day was a Butternut Squash and I really wanted to try it, but knew that it wouldn’t leave me much room for a full entrée, so I ordered the soup and the flat iron steak spinach salad.  BOTH were unbelievable.  I know it’s hard to imagine that a salad could be amazing, but I promise that this was and it was truly a full meal.  A nice size, perfectly prepared flat iron steak atop a really, REALLY good salad, tossed lightly in a housemade bleu cheese dressing.

Our server, Adonis, was really pleasant and very attentive.  If you don’t mind paying a few dollars more than usual; we would highly recommend ML Tavern.
