Brown Sugar Thai Cuisine

18 January, 2016 | Asian | By: Mrs Z

Brown Sugar Thai Cuisine had much promise, but sadly didn’t deliver!  On this Tuesday night, they had a few patrons but for the most part, they were relatively empty.  The service was prompt and the menu interesting.  I started with the coconut soup which was okay, but a little too sweet.  Mr. Z had the […]

Forage Public House

30 September, 2015 | Bar and Grill, Bistro | By: Mrs Z

OK, I have to rant a little here….I’m not quite sure I get this new trend of “farm to table”!  I mean seriously – some folks may care (a lot) about the origin of what they are eating, but frankly I’m not crazy about a menu that, next to every single item, lists the name […]

Georgetown

1 July, 2015 | Fine Dining | By: Mrs Z

Formerly Three Birds (which we had been to numerous times); Georgetown is the epitome of casual elegance.  With a wide variety of entrees and appetizers to choose from, it would be difficult not to find something to suit everyone. Thankfully, the weather was perfect when we visited, so we opted to eat on the patio […]

Barrio

7 May, 2015 | Mexican | By: Mrs Z

What fun this place was!!  If you like tacos (and who doesn’t?); then this is a must try.  Basically, Barrio is a “make your own taco” bistro, with everything imaginable as an ingredient/topping.  You pick the shell; of which there are at least a half dozen choices, pick the meat, the fillings and the toppings!  […]

Jammy Buggars

23 February, 2015 | English Pub | By: Mrs Z

So MANY amazing dishes at this cool little ‘place’!  It’s way too cool to be called a bar, but not exactly a white-tablecloth restaurant either!  Definitely a PUB!  We were sort of blown away that they have been there for 3 years and not only had we never been before, but we’d never even heard […]

Eddie and Eddie’s

1 October, 2012 | Bistro | By: Mrs Z

In keeping with the both of their other restaurants, it seems that Eddie Cerino may have found another big hit with this one!  First – Carrie Cerino’s and then a few years ago, Pizzeria Cerino.  If they are an indication of how well he’ll do with this upscale hamburger joint, then he’s got a winner.  […]

Around the Corner

15 November, 2011 | Bar | By: Mrs Z

Just a so/so bar. Sort of disappointing since I’ve heard so many people rave about this place over the years – it is supposed to be legendary. The service was ok, the food was just ok (had wings and burger) but the décor was warm and reminiscent of a typical corner bar!

Pacer’s

1 November, 2011 | Sports Bar | By: Mrs Z

Very large sports bar right on Detroit Rd. – huge patio that I would guess would be fabulous in the nice weather (and very crowded). Nice menu and great service, but they advertise that their ribs are “award winning, the best around, blah, blah….” and they definitely weren’t!  Good wings however. Wouldn’t resist going back, […]

Dewey’s Pizza

11 October, 2011 | Pizza | By: Mrs Z

Very cool place with outstanding pizza and salads.  Great service with a really unique and trendy décor for a pizza place.  Pretty reasonably priced for the quality and portion size.  Amazing menu – can’t wait to go back to try some of the other items!

Screaming Rooster

6 September, 2011 | Sports Bar | By: Mrs Z

Highly recommended to us, we were looking forward to this “neighborhood bar” but sadly were a little disappointed. Service – for a Tuesday – was horrible. They had a decent menu but since we had been told the burgers were awesome, that’s what we ordered.  Unfortunately, they were “just” burgers, though huge!  Best thing I […]
