Arashi Japanese Cuisine

30 October, 2012 | Japanese | By: Mrs Z

Although overall, MOST Japanese Steakhouses are pretty much the same, this one stood out just a bit!  The décor was nice, but very much like all the others and the service was exceptional.  The fact that the place was pretty empty probably contributed to that, but our server was young, energetic and had a great […]

Pizza by Robert

15 October, 2012 | Pizza | By: Mrs Z

It never fails to amaze me how VERY many pizza joints profess to have “authentic New York pizza”, yet I’m willing to bet that many (though certainly not all…..) have never been to NY and never even tasted NY pizza.  Believe it or not, it is VERY hard to recreate since ‘it’s all in the […]

Stonehouse Grille

22 November, 2011 | Traditional / American | By: Mr Z

It’s always a little amazing to pass someplace dozens of times, yet never even think about stopping.  This was one of those places and we were very glad we finally gave it a try. Tuesday nights are “Pizza Nights” and the place was packed. Service was outstanding (in spite of the crowd) and our server […]

The Savannah

8 November, 2011 | Sports Bar | By: Mr Z

THE place to go in Westlake if you’re into ‘oldies’ music!  Décor was a little tired, but for a Tuesday night, the place was hopping!  Very surprised to see that many folks over the age of 70 out and about on a Tuesday night, but this place draws them in.  Very interesting menu, offering a […]

Asian Wok

5 July, 2011 | Chinese | By: Mr Z

Have driven by this place many times but never bothered to stop. It looks very typically Chinese from the outside; inside it looks pretty tired and non-descript. The food was remarkably good, though definitely NOT the best. Service was great and the server was very friendly. Wouldn’t have a problem with a repeat visit, but […]

Manero’s

1 February, 2011 | Italian | By: Mrs Z

Ridiculously it is RIGHT NEXT DOOR to Carabba’s (don’t get that at all), and ironically – not as good.  They definitely have decent Italian food but we didn’t find anything outstanding or memorable and felt our meals were not as good as either Carabba’s or Olive Garden, but way more $$.  In addition, our server had no […]

Little Budhapest

24 November, 2009 | Hungarian | By: Mrs Z

Neat little Hungarian restaurant that was recommended by friends.  The schnitzel (and gravy) were outstanding.  The service was average to below (and only 2 other tables occupied besides us) and since their A/C was out the night we were in there, our patience was running out.  We would definitely go back again since everything else […]

Loco Leprechaun

17 March, 2009 | Irish, Sports Bar | By: Mr Z

A very unique Irish bar menu.  The service was somewhat slow and the food was ‘ok’ – not outstanding, but okay.  The Irish nachos were pretty good (corned beef, sauerkraut and melted swiss on tortilla chips – with of course, Thousand Island dressing to dip)!

Key West Cafe

11 November, 2008 | Bistro, Seafood | By: Mr Z

This place was VERY good with a widely diverse menu – many items are those you’d find in beachy towns like Key West, etc.  Great service and very reasonable prices.

Clubhouse Grille

5 August, 2008 | Traditional / American | By: Mrs Z

This has been so many things since the old “Cooker” closed several years ago.  They had a good menu and decent food, but nothing worth going back for.  Update – since our original visit, there have been at least 5 other restaurants in this location and it is currently empty!
