Texas de Brazil

15 September, 2016 | Brazilian | By: Mrs Z

Though we had been to Brasa Grill in downtown Cleveland, it was many years ago and our recollection is poor as to whether we liked it; but nevertheless, since Texas de Brazil was new to Crocker Park, we thought we’d give it a try.

We were really impressed with how beautiful it was inside and much bigger than it appeared from outside.  We had made reservations, but as it turned out, they really didn’t seem to be necessary on a weeknight.  Before I start with the rundown on our experience, I must first say that unless one has a huge appetite and is willing to try just about anything (even some unrecognizable dishes) the $45 per person fixed price is a little hefty.  I can’t actually say it wasn’t worth it, but for us…..it’s one of those “been there, done that” experiences, and even though I’m adventurous when it comes to trying new things; Mr. Z is NOT, and neither of us could do justice to the sheer amount of food that is offered.

Now upon first glance, though their “salad bar” (understatement) was pretty impressive, our MEMORY (which, given the amount of time that has passed, could be off a little) was that Brasa Grill’s was much bigger and had tons of hot items as well as cold.  That wasn’t the case here – though there were more than enough items to satisfy just about anyone, as well as Lobster Bisque (tasty, but lacking in even a single ‘sliver’ of lobster meat) and black beans and rice.  In addition to their salad bar, multiple kinds of meats are offered tableside and sliced right in front of you by servers that explained exactly what it was and how it was prepared.  Now the MEATS are definitely where Texas de Brazil wins out……they were all hot and perfectly done, whether you wanted it served medium rare or medium (Brasa Grill’s were cold, dry and way overdone) – these were delicious.

For those of you who fit into the ‘big adventurous appetite’ category – we’d definitely recommend Texas de Brazil; but for those of you who are on the pickier side, this place is not for you.
