The Sand Trap
There really isn’t much I can say about this place except if you looked up “dive bar” in a dictionary, you’d see a picture of the Sand Trap! Truly a dark, dreary hangout for mainly the regular after-work crowd and those that just like to sit at a bar. Now in all fairness, we did go on a Tuesday night and it was relatively early in the evening, but the fact that it WAS dark and dreary and we were the only ones NOT sitting at the bar is what gave that impression, so perhaps it is a little more lively at some other time, but that doesn’t change the feel of the atmosphere. Our server was really friendly and relatively attentive, given the fact that she was also the bartender. The menu was okay – mostly typical bar food, but there were a few entrees on there. Mr. Z played it safe and had a burger, which he said was pretty good. I had garlic parmesan wings and tater tots, and while the wings LOOKED nice and meaty, they had absolutely no garlic/parm flavor at all and were a little on the tough side.
For those of you looking for a neighborhood bar to hang out and play Keno, this is your place…..but if you’re looking for a sports bar with a lively atmosphere and good food……not so much – sorry Sand Trap!
