Fratello’s Pizza & Pasta
If there’s one thing we’ve learned is that good pizza is almost as subjective as a great pair of blue jeans – there’s a different “fit” for everyone! With that in mind, Fratello’s is ‘good’ pizza, though for MY taste, not great and not the ‘best ever’, but good! Located in the space formerly occupied (for years) by Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips, we were told by Corisa (our fantastic server) that they’ve been in this location for about a year.
Since we arrived later than usual for us, we skipped any appetizers, salads, etc. and went right for the main stuff. I had the spinach and ricotta calzone and Mr. Z just had a small cheese pizza. Their sauce was really, really good, but my problem was more with the dough. I’m pretty sure that the same dough is used for the calzones as for the pizza and let me say for the record that Mr. Z doesn’t share my opinion about the dough, but for me it was just a little bit “bready” and not floury or crispy enough like the pizza crust I’m used to and love. The calzone was very tasty, with plenty of ricotta and spinach inside and it came with a side of sauce for dipping. My only complaint is that there was more dough than filling, but I’ve found this to be the case with just about every calzone I’ve ever had. We were also happy to find that they do serve beer and wine (a big plus).
In addition to pizza, they have a pretty extensive menu (full dinners, sandwiches and wings). Fratello’s is definitely worth a visit and who knows….it may fit you JUST RIGHT!
