Heck’s Cafe
I remember having been to the original Heck’s many years ago and absolutely loving it. Our visit to the (relatively) new location in Avon wasn’t quite as positive. In all fairness to our wonderful server, Erin, she did try her best to make things right, but sadly the strip steak that Mr. Z (uncharacteristically) ordered MEDIUM came out still mooing. He did ask Erin to send it back and have them correct it and honestly, I don’t think they even warmed it up since it came back the same. After two failed attempts, he told Erin that he was finished, so she sent the manager over and it was removed from the bill. That alone was a big negative, since by this time I had already finished eating and Mr. Z basically had fries for dinner. I ordered the wedge and the baked brie, both of which were very good. The brie could have been a little warmer and been served with a few more pieces of baguette (it was a large amount of brie for only 5 small slices of baguette). Overall, both were very good.
Though I can’t say it was a horrible experience, we really couldn’t see any reason to return.
