Jezebels Bayou
A truly unique place and a real benefit for this area, since short of a trip to New Orleans, we haven’t been able to find any place like it in the Cleveland area! My only disappointment is that they have taken the ‘shrimp and grits’ off the menu. When we asked why, we were told that the time and effort it takes to make the homemade grits wasn’t worth it since they ended up throwing away most of it at the end of the night. To their credit though; the chef offered to make it for me if I didn’t mind waiting the extra 30 minutes or so that it would take. I really appreciated his offer, but politely declined and decided on the Jambalaya instead. I noticed that the menu showed a little “spice” icons next to it, so I asked our server just HOW spicy it was – he replied that it had “a little heat to it”……HA!!!! I guess that ‘a little heat’ is all a matter of opinion, since to me, it was borderline ten-alarm!!! Don’t get me wrong; it was delicious; just a little too spicy for my taste (though to some, it would probably be considered mild). Mr. Z decided on the blackened salmon, which he said was very good (though just a little dry).
Our server, Ben, was great! He was knowledgeable, friendly and very attentive. We would highly recommend Jezebels if you’re looking for something different from your run-of-the-mill sports bar or steak place!
