Matteo’s Italian Restaurant
Even though this particular storefront has been several things within the past few years; I think that the landlords may have found a long-term tenant in Matteo’s! While we’ve been to each of the previous restaurants occupying this space, never have we seen it as crowded on a Tuesday evening as it was this past week, so we’re guessing that’s a good sign.
Matteo’s menu is huge, with a nice variety of all things Italian, some pretty unique-sounding. They also had a few selections for the non-Italian lovers as well. Mr. Z chose the lasagna, which he found to be slightly lacking (the first piece came out cold and had to be returned to the kitchen). It wasn’t that he didn’t like it; it just fell a little short of what he considers REALLY good lasagna. I ordered the Pollo Matteo’s which was delicious. I’d for sure put it in the ‘unique’ category and though it had no ‘red sauce’, it was definitely Italian. I wouldn’t hesitate to order it again. One of the really nice features about Matteo’s is that almost every dish is able to be ordered in 2 sizes – small or regular (large). Word of warning; their small is beyond adequate even for those with hearty appetites. Another real bonus is that their prices are quite reasonable for the quality of food.
