Minh Anh Vietnamese Restaurant

13 October, 2017 | Vietnamese | By: Mrs Z

On the advice of a friend, we decided to try this Vietnamese restaurant since (based on what we had heard), their Won Ton soup was THE BEST.  Though Won Ton soup is typically Chinese, this place had an interesting take on it and once you got used to the fact that it is a bit sweeter than usual, it was actually pretty good.  The “best”……not so sure about that, but definitely good.

Additionally, the majority of their menu read more like Chinese than Vietnamese.  We ended up sharing the Chicken Chow Mein and thought it was really good.  Again, a different twist to it than the typical Chinese version.  In addition to the soup and chow mein, we each ordered egg rolls which our friend said were “outstanding”.  We begged to differ there – they were AWFUL.  I can’t even verbalize what it was about them that was off-putting, but neither of us took more than the first bite and just couldn’t finish.  Both the consistency and the taste were just bad.  We also found them to be a little overpriced for what was offered.  Generally, an egg roll in any chinese restaurant is about $1.25; Minh Anh’s are $3.50 EACH.  The other menu items were priced the same.

Overall, it was an interesting place and I guess if we went more often, we’d be inclined to branch out a bit, but since we didn’t love anything enough to overpay, it’s doubtful we would return.
